May Help maintain healthy bone health

Blueberries contain iron, phosphorous, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, and vitamin K. Each of these is a component of bone. Adequate intake of these minerals and vitamins contributes to building and maintaining bone structure and strength.

High in Antioxidants

Blueberries are believed to have one of the highest antioxidant levels of all common fruits and vegetables. Antioxidants protect your body from free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can damage your cells and contribute to aging and diseases, such as cancer.

May help reduce chances of heart disease

Research has shown that anthocyanidins, which are found in berry fruits, may support the cardiovascular system. They appear to do this by supporting the health of blood vessels and reducing the arterial stiffness which is associated with ageing.

Could aid maintain eye health

Including blueberries regularly in your diet may improve vision and guard against age-related macular degeneration. This is thought to be thanks to the improved blood and oxygen flow to the eyes and the antioxidant protection which may help reduce the likelihood of cataract and macular degeneration.

May help manage blood sugar

Because blueberries are high in fibre and lower in sugar when compared to other fruits, they don’t cause your blood sugar to spike. A  2020 study of men living with Type 2 diabetes found that eating blueberries daily lowered certain cardiometabolic health parameters, such as triglycerides.


Healthy skin benefits

Topical blueberry skincare products may help with skin health because of their high anthocyanin (phytochemical) levels.

Further studies have also found topical products containing anthocyanins may help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, thanks to their antioxidant properties.
